Mint Reaching on Commemoratives?

Is it just me or does anyone else think the Mint is having trouble coming up with events to commemorate? In May they are going to issue the "Little Rock Central High School Desegregation Silver Dollar.

What is next? The commemoration of Women being Liberated by Bra Burning in the 60's and 70's?

On second thought that is not a bad idea. I just might be interested in buying if it came in a "liberated" set of two. :driver:

Now that I think of it, maybe Mexico already beat them to it with their Libertad!

the US mint already did that. The Standing Liberty Quarter, until censors got hold of it, had one breat exposed.

Instead of commemorating bra burning, how about playboy bunny of the month for a year! 12 different, 1 oz silver coins. Imagine the collectibility of those! :s9:   :17092:

They're just participating in the U.S.'s "prostitute anything and everything" movement to politically please...for political acceptance.

Re: Mint Reaching on Commemoratives?

Are all of the Mint's commemorative coins made of 90% silver or gold?

Jamestown 400th Anniversary Silver Dollars

Mint Facility: Philadelphia
Weight: 26.730 grams nominal
Diameter: 1.500 inches (+/- .003 inches)
Composition: 90% silver, 10% copper
Mintage Limit: 500,000 (across all product options)

The composition ratio is the same with the gold ones as well. I could maybe understand with the gold, but with silver too? It's not like these are going to actually be circulated or anything. To me, it's like watering down the whisky.

How about

Chairmans of the Federal Reserve
also known as the who's who of Goldman Sachs

Signing of the Patriot Act

Heroes of the Gulf War I

that's why we are having the war on terror now...so there is more fodder for coinage in another 10 years or so for:
Heroes of the Gulf War II

Aren't they considering
First Lady's commeratives
